CHALK A LOT!

Join artists in the first annual CHALK A LOT sponsored by the Monroe County Arts Alliance—a street chalk art event in downtown Waterloo on Saturday, September 10. (Rain date September 11). Artists 13 and up–in non professional and professional categories— can pre-register to participate. Prizes will be awarded in three categories—13 & 18, 19 & up, and Professional. Drawing begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. with judging following. Awards will be presented at 5:45 p.m. There is NO CHARGE for artists to enter the competition. The event takes place on Mill Street in downtown Waterloo. Performances by the Kaskaskia Trail Chorus at 9:00 a.m., Hometown Harmony at 10:00 a.m., Waterloo German Band at 11:00 a.m., Band Room Brass at 3:00 p.m., MASC at 4:00 p.m. and the Waterloo Municipal Band at 5:00 p.m. will highlight the day. Fredbird will visit between 12:00-2:00p.m AND there is a free family area for artists of all ages to try their hand at chalk art. ARTISTS and SPONSORS will find application/registration forms on www.monroecountyarts.org, the Waterloo Library and First National Bank of Waterloo locations in Waterloo and Columbia. These are due by August 26. Explore Waterloo Day is also September 10, so make a day of it and have some fun!
